Hi Chrystal! Thanks for sharing your story with us today! Can you please tell everyone a little about yourself?
My name is Chrystal Haynes. I was born in Guyana, South America, and currently live in Dallas, Texas. I love exploring new places and hanging out with my family and I am definitely a foodie so my hobbies include trying new foods, creating purses and purse accessories for my brand as well as reading and growing myself.
That all sounds wonderful! We love seeing the new purses and accessories you create! What are you most excited about for the future?
I’m most excited about building a business that will provide more jobs for people in the community as well as creating a legacy for my future family. I am also excited about helping other people with their businesses as well as growing into the person I was created to be!
You are creating a beautiful legacy and we love that you’re focused on lifting other people up with you! Tell us about FifteenAndFifteen! What do you make and how long have you been doing it?
My business is called FifteenAndFifteen where I sew and design handbags, fanny packs, backpacks and other bag accessories. The name FifteenAndFifteen actually comes from my favorite bible verse John 15:15 where Jesus is telling His disciples that He calls them friends! I’ve been sewing for almost 6 years now and have been in business for about the same amount of time and am looking forward to continuing to grow and improve my craft.
What a cool story behind your brand name! We can’t wait to see where the future takes you as you continue to grow! Why did you get involved with MMC?
I was looking at different boutiques in the Bishop Arts district because I wanted my products to get in front of a broader audience and when I walked into MMC I was seriously blown away. I noticed that there were pictures next to some of the work and when I read them, it was the story of the person who made the product. As I walked around some more, I realized that all of the stories were from women. When I got home I looked up MMC and realized that the boutique focused on woman makers in Texas from various backgrounds. From that point, I knew I had to reach out to Katy to see if I could be a part of what she had created. She responded back to my email and when I met with her, she was so kind and excited about supporting other woman makers. I knew from that point that I wanted to get involved with MMC!
We are so glad you’re part of our community! What are three words that best describe your work?
Chic, classic and versatile.
Such a great description! If you could have any superpower, what would you choose?
Do you remember a movie called Jumper with Hayden Christensen where he could teleport? That would be my superpower because it would save me, my family and friends so much time!
That was a great movie, and teleportation would be an amazing superpower! Thanks so much for sharing your story with us today, Chrystal! We are so thankful you are a maker at Mosaic Makers Collective!
