Cara Bella Designs
Cara hand-weaves textured fiber art pieces, inspired by & featuring art yarn that are hand spun by women artisans across the world.
Cara is a part-time fiber artist but a full-time devotee to her love for beautiful fibers in all forms, from art yarn to blended batts to textiles. She began by working with fabric in 2012, learning how to sew then creating gifts for family and friends, in addition to making and donating nearly 30 handmade dolls, several quilts and pillowcases, and angel gowns to charitable organizations. Cara began working in her current medium in 2021, having fallen in love with weaving by way of an embroidery pattern maker and the maker’s friend, both found via Instagram. More specifically, Cara fell in love with beautiful, sparkly art yarn. And art yarn with fluffy bobbles. And art yarn with beautiful blends of colors. And the list goes on. In truth, she bought so many skeins of art yarn before coming to terms with the fact that she couldn't just hoard fiber. Thus began her artistic weaving journey.
Cara's work has been displayed in three gallery exhibits and an artist residency in a locally-owned coffee shop. She continues to support community and charitable efforts by donating art pieces to benefit local, national, and international humanitarian charities and groups.
