Reflecting on Our Journey: A New Chapter for Mosaic Makers Collective in Waco

Friends and Fam:

I can hardly believe how far we’ve come. Mosaic Makers Collective started as a tiny dream and has grown into something truly magical, thanks to the incredible support of our community. Opening in Waco is a huge milestone, and I’m so excited to share this journey with all of you.

From a Small Dream to a Flourishing Reality

When I launched Mosaic Makers Collective in May 2018, it was just me and seven amazing women in a cozy 300-square-foot space in the Bishop Arts District of Dallas. I started Mosaic out of a personal need for community and collaboration as a maker. I felt isolated and craved a space where artisans could support and inspire each other. Little did I know, this need was shared by so many others. Fast forward to today, and we’ve blossomed beyond my wildest dreams!

Our Growth and Accomplishments

In 2020, we moved to a bigger space in Bishop Arts, which allowed us to welcome even more talented makers. Our pop-up store at the Galleria Dallas was another thrilling step, bringing our unique, handmade products to an even wider audience.

One of the most rewarding parts of this journey has been our commitment to diversity and inclusion. Our RISE: ALAANA Mentorship Academy, launched in the spring of 2024, connects young aspiring ALAANA (African, Latinx, Asian, Arab, and Native American) artists from Adamson High School with established artisans in our community.

Likewise, it's been amazing to see the new connections, collaborations, and sense of community that have blossomed from this initiative. Our makers have accomplished so much, from growing new businesses into steady income streams to landing big business partnerships and media spots. Incredibly, four of our makers have even opened their own stores! We also celebrated the launch of our first in-house designed collection, the Girl Riot Society, and winning the $10,000 WomensNet Amber Grant was a huge affirmation of our mission and efforts.

A New Beginning in Waco

Now, as we open our doors in Waco, I’m filled with excitement for what lies ahead. Our new location is more than just a store; it’s a hub for creativity, connection, and community. We’re bringing the best of Mosaic Makers Collective to Waco, offering a diverse range of handmade goods and continuing to support and empower local artisans.

Thank You

Looking back on our journey, I’m overwhelmed with gratitude for the support, love, and encouragement we’ve received from our community. Every step of our growth has been made possible by the incredible makers, customers, and supporters who believe in our mission. Thank you for being a part of our story. I can’t wait to see what we achieve together in this new chapter!

With heartfelt thanks,
